Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What is Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax made of?
Answer: Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax is primarily made from paraffin wax, which is renowned for its performance in candle making. This unscented wax is preferred by many crafters because it offers a clean and smooth finish when set. With its pearled texture, it melts evenly, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced candle makers. Whether you are making decorative candles for special occasions or functional candles for everyday use, this wax provides versatility and reliability in various candle-making projects. -
Question:
How many candles can I make with 10lb of this wax?
Answer: With 10lb of Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax, you can create a significant number of candles, depending on their size. For instance, if you’re making standard-sized votives, you can generally produce around 30-50 candles. If you opt for larger pillar candles or jars, the quantity may be less. This wax is designed for efficiency, allowing you to craft multiple candles in one go, making it ideal for hobbyists or small business applications, like filling orders or setting up a home craft station. -
Question:
Can I add fragrance oils to Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax?
Answer: Yes, you can add fragrance oils to Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax, though it's important to use oils specifically formulated for candle making. Typically, a usage rate of 6-10% fragrance oil by weight is recommended. This allows for a pleasant scent throw once the candle is burned. Many candlemakers enjoy experimenting with different scents and blending them for unique creations. Adding fragrance can elevate your candles, making them perfect for gifting or enhancing your living space with a warm, inviting aroma. -
Question:
What types of wicks are compatible with this candle wax?
Answer: Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax is compatible with various wick types, including cotton, wooden, and lead-free choices. The included 50 wicks in the package are ideally sized for optimal burning performance. Selecting the right wick is crucial, as it affects candle burn time, scent throw, and overall performance. For larger candles, you may opt for thicker wicks, while smaller candles might need a finer wick. Understanding wick sizes and materials will help you achieve desired results in your candle-making projects. -
Question:
Is the candle wax smoke-free when burned?
Answer: Yes, Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax is considered smoke-free when burned properly. Since it is unscented and primarily made from paraffin wax, it tends to produce a clean burn, minimizing smoke and soot. To ensure the best performance, choose wicking and fragrance loads appropriate for the candle size. Proper wick sizing plays a key role in achieving a clean burn, making these candles ideal for indoor use and maintaining a pleasant environment without the worry of excessive smoke. -
Question:
Can I use this wax for making colored candles?
Answer: Absolutely! Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax can be dyed for creating colored candles. Candle dyes are specifically designed for use with wax and come in liquid or chip forms. The white base of this wax provides an excellent canvas for creating vibrant colors. By carefully following dye usage instructions, you can achieve stunning results. Experimenting with colors can be a fun way to personalize candles for events or holidays, allowing you to make unique gifts or decorative pieces. -
Question:
What is the ideal melting temperature for this wax?
Answer: The ideal melting temperature for Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax is typically between 170 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Melting the wax within this range allows it to liquefy effectively while retaining its properties for optimal pouring and scent retention. Using a double boiler method is recommended to achieve a precise melting temperature. This ensures an even melt and avoids scorching, which can affect the quality and safety of your candles during the candle-making process. -
Question:
Will the wax hold its shape in warmer climates?
Answer: Yes, Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax holds its shape well in warmer climates, provided it is poured and set correctly. This formulation is designed to resist deformity when exposed to slightly elevated temperatures. However, while it is robust, extreme heat can affect the wax’s performance, such as softening. It's wise to store and display finished candles in a cool, shaded area to ensure they remain visually appealing and function optimally, as temperatures can have an impact on candle aesthetics. -
Question:
How should I store unused candle wax?
Answer: Unused Simply Soson White Pearled Candle Wax should be stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keeping the wax in its original packaging helps protect it from dust and contaminants. Proper storage is essential for maintaining its quality and usability for future projects. If you buy in bulk or have leftovers, consider using airtight containers for efficient organization. This way, your wax remains ready for your next creative endeavor, ensuring convenience and performance each time. -
