BOSS Footswitches & Controllers EV-1-WL Editorial Review

The BOSS Wireless MIDI Expression Pedal EV-1-WL offers great dynamic control and sensitivity, making it a useful tool for guitarists using amp sims and software in the studio. It can be connected to a PC or laptop via USB or paired wirelessly, providing versatility in usage. It is compatible with multiple instrument plugins in a DAW and works well with Mac's Logic and MainStage. However, there are some limitations to Consider. Windows users will need to purchase an additional USB adapter (the Roland WM-1D) to use the pedal in wireless mode due to Windows not having MIDI over Bluetooth functionality built-in. Additionally, the pedal may not work wirelessly with Neural DSP Architype plug-ins, as the MIDI learn function does not receive or understand the messages sent by the pedal. Overall, the BOSS Wireless MIDI Expression Pedal EV-1-WL offers great functionality and control for guitarists using amp sims and software, but there are some compatibility issues to be aware of, particularly for Windows users and users of Neural DSP plug-ins.
