STANDARDHORIZON Headsets & Microphones Editorial Review
**** The STANDARD Horizon Compact Speaker Microphone SSM-17H has garnered a favorable reception among users, particularly for its versatility and effectiveness when paired with various amateur radios. Many customers endorse its good sound quality, with the microphone’s sensitivity allowing for clear voice transmission, while the compact design promotes convenience, especially in active situations like fishing or kayaking. Users particularly appreciate its robust build quality, which withstands rough conditions, making it a reliable choice for outdoor enthusiasts. However, there are mixed feelings regarding its performance in terms of audio reception. Some users reported difficulty in hearing received transmissions even at maximum volume, suggesting that while it excels in transmitting voice clearly, it may fall short in receiving capabilities in noisy environments. Additionally, there's some feedback regarding the integrity of the connector and the shirt clip, which may not hold up as well under Constant use. In summary, the SSM-17H is praised for its affordability, ease of use, and overall reliability for both casual and professional applications. It is recommended for users who need a capable microphone for their radios, although some limitations in audio reception should be noted. **
