Drama Editorial Review
The movie adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's novel, "Anna Karenina," seems to have divided audiences. Some viewers found the format of the film, which was made to resemble a movie in the making, to be off-putting. They felt that it detracted from the story and ultimately labeled the movie as a failure. However, others appreciated the unique approach, finding it interesting and reminiscent of Keira Knightley's performance in "The Duchess." They found the film to be emotional and thought-provoking. While there were differing opinions on the format of the movie, many viewers seemed to agree that the acting and storytelling were pleasant. However, some felt that the stylization and heavy reliance on live performances made the beginning of the film feel disjointed. They appreciated the effort but preferred a more traditional movie experience when it came to period pieces. Overall, the reception of the movie "Anna Karenina" was mixed. Some viewers enjoyed the unique approach and appreciated the emotional performances, while others felt that the format was a failure and did not do justice to the novel.
