The spine of the blade is 1/4" thick and the top is sharpened. The knife is overbuilt and designed by SEALS, which provides versatility and toughness. It is suitable for most knife tasks and performs well. The blade is thick enough for chopping, and the choil is large and allows a good grip for finer work. It is the perfect knife for breaching or prying any entry door in a standard Bad guy mud hut or to get your buddy out of a blown-up vehicle. The knife is well-balanced, and the G10 handles and "black traction coating" on jimping are sturdy. The knife comes with a typical cordura sheath, which is good and attaches nicely to any Molle equipped pack or rig. If you're looking for an emergency kit knife or every hunter should have on hand, then this would be your choice if you could only carry ONE knife.
